We are in danger of losing our rights to own, breed, and love our wonderful Akitas. Breed specific legislation, mandatory spay/neuter laws, limit laws, restrictive breeder legislation and loss of homeowner's insurance solely because of your breed of dog, etc., are spreading like cancer throughout our communities. State-by-State, County-by-County, Town-by-Town, the Animal Rights Agenda, which is to stop all breeding, and animal ownership, is coming to your area! Are you prepared to defend your rights to keep your beloved dogs, or are you prepared to lose them?

Our legislators are falling victim to the Animal Rights propaganda because we have been silent about the importance of the of the canine/human bond, our knowledge about all things canine, the wonderful traits of our breed, and the value of responsible dog breeders to the community. It is up to us as responsible dog owners and breeders to proactively educate the legislators so that when there are canine related issues within the community they look to us as the experts to help solve the perceived problem.

This committee is dedicated to saving the rights of all dog owners, and primarily of Akita owners. We need your help! We need you to stand up and be counted, to spread the word to your community and your legislators that we are the good guys. We will keep you aware of potential legislative threats to your rights and when we call for action we need you to respond. We will give you the tools to help, please be ready willing and able to use them when we call.

Writing Your Legislators

Most letters are read by staff and not the person you're sending them too.  They will pass on a sample of what comes in to the Congressman.  Long letters with a lot of information in them almost immediately get push aside, no one has time to read a long letter. 

Suggestions: The most effective way of getting your letters past the Legislative Aides and to the desk of the decision-maker is to write in bullet points. Bullet points get your main point across and are easier to read.
