AKITA CLUB OF AMERICA

ACA and Region Email Lists

For members Only

Every day, the internet helps make the world a little smaller by allowing us to share our lives and thoughts with those we might never meet otherwise. Although there are many email lists for those interested in Akitas, two are available exclusively to all Akita Club of America Members, depending on your preference, and others to members in a specific region.
  • ACA E-mail Announcement List (acamail)
  • ACA Members Discussion List. (acamem)
  • Regional Lists

These are all hosted by Yahoo Groups ( http://www.groups.yahoo.com ). Although they are operated for the benefit of the ACA, in accordance with Yahoo's rules, the rules regarding participation, the enforcement thereof, maintenance and operation of each list is the exclusive purview of the list owner and whatever moderators volunteer to assist in list operation.

Subscription is available only to members of the Akita Club of America, and in the case of the regional lists, to members of that particular region.  Non-renewing members will be unsubscribed at the end of the dues payment period.  YOU MUST ADD YOUR NAME TO THE YAHOO PROFILE as it appears on the ACA membership list so that we can determine you are a member.  Completing any other information is up to your discretion.

This list is used by the Club Officers, Board, and Committee Chairs for announcements to members about club activities and to provide information of possible interest to ACA members. Members cannot post to this list nor can they reply to an email.  If they wish to discuss any material appearing on this list, they should contact their Region Representative or a Director At Large.

AKITA MEMBERS LIST GUIDELINES

The guidelines/rules that will be in place apply to everyone, equally. Those who choose to ignore those rules will be given a ONE TIME warning.  Should it be ignored, the offender will be placed on No Post once for a week.  During this time, they can read mail but cannot post to the list.  A third offense will result in removal from the list by the list owner.

First and foremost, the ACA list is intended for the discussion of matters concerning and involving the Akita Club of America. Off topic posts should be sent privately, or to the other general Akita lists.

NO personal attacks (flames) will be tolerated. You cannot insult other posters nor can you belittle them or their opinions.  If you have a problem with a fellow list member, take your battles privately. Uncivil, rude, provocative, or off-topic discussion will result in disciplinary action as outlined above.

TRIM YOUR POSTS! Learn how to highlight excess text and delete it when you reply to posts. This includes removing the advertisements and bottom banner that come with each post.

NO Attachments Allowed! These will automatically be removed from your post. If you have an appropriate attachment you would like to share with the membership, send it to a list moderator and they can put it in the file or photo section of the yahoo website for this list.

This list is in place to provide a forum for discussion of ACA business and affairs between ACA members which may include some or all of the Officers and Board.

GENERAL INFORMATION

WHAT IS AN EMAIL LIST?

Email lists are a way for individuals to mail individual comments to a group. You mail your post to the list server and that computer forwards it to all other subscribers. The volume of mail each individual receives will depend on how many post each day and how many people are on the list.

HOW DO I SUBSCRIBE?

To subscribe to this list, go to the Yahoo groups Website and complete the enrollment process. This site has many email list. The ACA announcement list is called "acamail" which you should type in the box for the list name. The discussion list for members is called "acamems."  Once you have selected a list to join, you will be taken to the next page which has the matches for your request. Click on the list name and you will be taken through steps to subscribe.

HOW DO I GET OFF THE LIST?

Go to http://www.groups.yahoo.com, enter your name and password and go to the menu page which contains your list information. Follow the prompts from there. This menu will also let you change your subscription between digest and normal mode.

WHAT IS DIGEST AND NORMAL MODE?

You may receive email messages on an individual basis or get several of them bundled together at one time. Digest form can greatly reduce the volume of email you get from a heavily used list.

If you choose to receive your mail in digest form, please remember to delete all but the appropriate section when you reply to a post. Otherwise, your next digest will contain the previous digest in its entirety. Not only is this as poor netiquette, it makes follow the topic very difficult.

WHERE DO I SEND MAIL?

Replies are not allowed on the ACA mal list. It is an information only list. For the ACA Members list, you send mail to acamems@yahoogroups.com.  Regional lists have their own addresses listed above.

To subscribe, unsubscribe, access the archives, or obtain more information about the list functions, please go to the Yahoo groups website

WHAT IF I GO ON VACATION OR OUT OF TOWN AND DON'T WANT MY EMAIL TO PILE UP?

No one wants to come home to a backlog of emails, and some servers cannot handle too many without refusing your mail. You do not need to unsubscribe to avoid this. Just go to the Yahoo groups website and follow the instructions to put yourself on "no mail." You can read what you have missed in the archives, which you can access the same way.

WHAT IS THE AKITA CLUB LIST?

We are a group of individuals who are members of the ACA ( Akita Club of America). The ACA has two lists, one for those who want announcements only from the club and one for discussion of ACA business among members.

WHO CAN JOIN IT?

Lists restricted to ACA members, all of whom are welcome to join the group. You must have your name listed in the Yahoo profiles, although you do not need to put any other information.

MY APPLICATION IS PENDING, CAN I JOIN NOW?

Sorry, only approved members are eligible. As soon as we receive confirmation of your election to membership, if you have a request to join the list pending, we will approve it.

Thank you and enjoy the ACA email list!
